This introduced plant is a bit of a mixed blessing. While it does spread fast, compete with native ground cover, and prove very hard to erradicate, it also prevents soil erosion and, like red clover, and improves fertility by transplanting nitrogen from the air into the soil. This plant often be found clumped along roadsides and in freshly disturbed soil. Its pink flowers are quite prodigious; they often bloom from late Spring right into early Fall.
