This gregarious native wildflower is the subject of a lot of misnomers. Some people mistake it for a flower that has already passed its blooming stage. Others don't recognize it as a flower at all. The truth is that the Aborted Buttercup is a spring wildflower with tiny petals. Its bright green flower-heads and kidney shaped basal leaves help to distinguish the Aborted Buttercup from most non flowering Minnesotan plants.

Some facts about the Aborted Buttercup:

• The Aborted Buttercup does not produce nectar. It produces pollen.
