Suburb

Other Habitats:

suburb

Suburban butterfly gardens, such as this one outside the Maplewood Nature Center, can attract a wide variety of butterfly species.

Picket fences, mowed lawns, tended gardens; what's so natural about a suburb? Butterfly and pond gardens and restored prairies have become increasingly popular over the years, allowing homeowners to restore wildflowers, trees, grasses, and other to their native habitat, and encourage local wildlife. Such efforts are just a few creative measures to help restore native landscapes and species.
