Perching Birds | Woodpeckers and Creeping Birds | Raptors | Waterfowl | Shorebirds | Ground Birds

Eagles, owls, hawks and falcons are all members of the Raptor, or Bird of Prey, category. All Raptors are carnivores that use their powerful talons and hooked beaks to catch and devour their prey. Many raptors, like the Great Horned Owl and Peregrine Falcon, prefer to catch live prey, while others, like the Bald Eagle and Turkey Vulture, will eat carrion.
