Ground Birds consist of turkeys, pheasants, and grouse. Most ground birds are omnivorous, eating mostly seeds and other plant matter, along with some insects. Almost all ground birds have short beaks and strong talons for digging through even hard winter soil. Though ground birds spend most of their time on the forest or prairie floor, they can all fly for at least short distances.
